NMN

Nicotinamide Mononucleotide, a direct precursor of NAD+.

NMN – Nicotinamide Mononucleotide
Introduction

One step closer to NAD+

NMN is, like NR, a precursor of NAD+, the molecule that fuels the energy of our cells and that tends to decline as we age. It is converted into NAD+ in an even more direct way, which is why it is one of the most discussed ingredients in research on cellular longevity.

It is frequently associated with support for vitality, mitochondrial function and metabolic balance. Please note: in Europe its regulatory status has to be verified country by country.

What is NMN

Nicotinamide Mononucleotide occurs in trace amounts in foods such as broccoli, cabbage, edamame and avocado. For nutraceutical use it is also produced through biotechnological processes.

In the NAD+ biosynthesis chain, NMN sits one step further downstream than NR, which is the reason for the interest it has attracted in research on cellular energy metabolism.

Role in Longevity and Healthy Aging

NMN is a precursor of NAD+ one step downstream of NR; it supports sirtuins, mitochondria and the response to DNA damage.

Together with NR it belongs to the family of NAD+ boosters, the approach that seeks to counteract the physiological decline of this coenzyme and to preserve the cellular functions that depend on it.

Nutraceutical Applications

NMN is used in capsules, powders and fast-absorption sublingual formulations, positioned in the premium anti-aging segment.

It has been studied in combination with Resveratrol (Sinclair research) and with TMG to support the methylation cycle. Its regulatory status in Europe must be verified country by country before formulating and marketing a finished product.
